Dick’s Classic Car Garage
This San Marcos hidden gem is a great indoor attraction for those hot summer days! Dick’s is home to some of America’s most beloved cars. From the Model T to the Tucker and everything in between, Dick’s will take you through some of the coolest cars in history!
Once named the Greatest Waterpark in the World, the original Schlitterbahn never ceases to disappoint! Schlitterbahn is located in New Braunfels, TX approximately 20 minutes from San Marcos. There are rides for the thrill seekers, lazy river rats, and everyone in between. Best part? You can bring your own cooler!
You won’t find a better photo opportunity than Jacob’s Well. Located about 30 minutes from San Marcos, this artesian spring is a Hill Country must see. Cool, clear water flows from the underground spring and limestone rock surrounds the pool for a beautiful backdrop. Don’t forget to make a reservation- Jacob’s Well only allows 300 swimmers a day so book your trip quickly!
Texas Ski Ranch is a one stop shop for all things adventure! TSR has a plethora of activities including a wakeboarding lake, paintball courses, trampoline park, and a skateboarding park. They are also home to a great outdoors shop and an on site restaurant to fuel up between activities. Get your adrenaline pumping!
Check out the San Marcos Farmer’s Market every Saturday from 9:00 am- 1:00 pm in the Square! Vendors from around the area come and showcase their freshly made products including soaps, candles, and produce. One of our favorite stands is the San Martian Fruit Cup Truck, serving up homemade authentic fruit cups with all of your favorite toppings.
You can’t get closer to nature than cave exploring! Natural Bridge Caverns offers a close up look at some of the earth’s deepest pockets. Some of the activites offered include a cavern tour, gem & fossil mining, and an obsticle course complete with a zipline! If spelunking is on your bucket list make sure you check out the caves at NBC!
One of the speediest experiences in the San Marcos area! Central Texas Speedway offers Go-Kart racing for you and your friends. These Go-Karts aren’t just your childhood Power Wheels though. These Karts top out at 65 MPH! Speed on by your friends and wave as you cross the finish line. Such a thrilling way to cap off your summer vacation!
For a more leisurely day, try the Glass Bottom Boat Tour at The Meadows Center. These boats offer an up close look at Spring Lake, one of the largest aquifer fed bodies of water in the state. Tours leave every 30 minutes from 9:30 AM- 6:00 PM from The Meadows Center and last approximately 30 minutes. The tour is not just educational but beautiful as well. It’s a great way to renew your pride of San Marcos!
The slow pace of summer means there is plenty of time to stop and smell the roses, and there is no better place to take a whiff than the Lady Bird Johnson Wildlife Center in Austin, TX. Only 30 minutes from San Marcos, this botanical oasis is perfect for a pretty day spent outdoors. Stroll through the butterfly garden, climb the San Antonio tower for a great view of Austin, and pack a picnic lunch for a peaceful moment among the trees. You’ll leave feeling zen and ready for a new school year!
